Senator Robert Marionneaux, Jr. has practiced in the area of gaming law for more than twenty—five (25 years).
Senator Marionneaux is the former chairman of the Louisiana Senate Judiciary “B” committee (2004-2008) which has oversight over all gaming related matters in Louisiana.
The committee is responsible for the oversight over all aspects of gaming law, including but not limited to: licensees operating under the Louisiana Riverboat Economic Development and Gaming Control Act, the Louisiana Economic Development and Gaming Corporation Act, and the Video Draw Poker Devices Control Law.
The responsibility for supervising the casino industry is divided between the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division and the Office of the Attorney General’s Gaming Division.
Sen. Marionneaux has represented numerous companies in a wide variety of gaming issues including matters before the hearing officers charged with the disposition of infractions, appeals to district courts in various jurisdictions and has represented several clients who’s cases have been decided, and reported by the Louisiana Supreme Court.
He has worked closely with the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, Louisiana State Police, and Louisiana Attorney General’s Office on a variety of issues concerning his clients’ gaming related matters.
